If you let yourself be carried by the winds of change, you will take flight in the direction of your destiny. Plàsi embraces a natural inclination towards evolution. Rather than staying in familiar territory or getting comfortably carried away by the rhythm of the past, the Greek-Swedish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist gradually changes course with his 2024 EP, Salamina (Nettwerk Music Group). Hanging plaintive vocals on a lush sonic architecture, the music evokes the moment when one falls into a dream.
It all started with a trip to the Greek island of Salamina in 2022. “There are places in the world that show us the way without even trying,” reflects Plàsi. “Life in Salamina changes in an instant. You can go from the cosmopolitan capital to the rural island, almost right next door. It’s rough, but honest. In a way, the landscape tells us a lot about life and its natural beauty. This particular environment really pushed me to think differently.” Joined by producer Björn Yttling (Lykke Li, Peter Björn & John, First Aid Kit), Plàsi organically expands his sonic landscape, moving away from the traditions of the songwriter and reaching cinematic heights driven by a bolder sound and ambition.
Inspired by artists as diverse as Blanco White, Efterklang and Phoebe Bridgers, Plàsi has carefully crafted a sleek signature style, blending elements of ethereal acoustic guitar, light production and warm vocals. With over 100 million cumulative streams, his journey has evolved through the EP Now & Then (2016), the album People(2018), the EP Mystery (2019), and the album Foreign Sea (2022). Its title Sorrow, which has garnered over 15 million streams on Spotify, paved the way for collaborations with Axel Flóvent, Aisha Badru, and more. Along the way, he’s also toured internationally with artists such as Hollow Coves, Henry Jamison, and José González.
