LEE RITENOUR

Lee Ritenour (born Lee Mack Ritenour, January 11, 1952, Los Angeles, CA, USA) has maintained a delicate balance between individual creative vision and group dynamics since the beginning of his career. He made his first recordings in the late 60s with the Mamas and the Papas, who nicknamed him Captain Fingers because he displayed incredible dexterity while still a teenager.
Since his first recordings in the 1970s, he has earned a GRAMMY Award and 19 GRAMMY nominations, numerous number one guitar polls, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian SJ Awards, and a prestigious Alumnus of the Year award from the University of Southern California. He has recorded over 40 albums, resulting in 35 chart-topping songs. As a young guitarist, he applied his combination of diverse musical styles and brilliant technical skills to over 3 sessions with a wide range of artists, and was a founding member of Fourplay, considered the most successful group in contemporary jazz.
